The St. John XXIII Lions had to endure a seven-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Kelly Catholic by a score of 41-30 on Tuesday. This was payback for St. John XXIII, who suffered a 46-40 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Despite the loss, Kelly Catholic still got an impressive performance from Munro Nichols, who scored 11 points.
Kelly Catholic struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They are 1-5 when they can't control their own glass like that.
St. John XXIII's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-13. As for Kelly Catholic, they dropped their record down to 10-22 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.
St. John XXIII will head out on the road to square off against the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Woodlands Christian Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully the Lions likes a good challenge. As for Kelly Catholic, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Pioneers at 7:30 p.m. Lutheran South Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Bulldogs in Texas (the Pioneers are ranked 540th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 1094th).
