The Maiden Blue Devils waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They enjoyed a cozy 59-44 victory over Bandys. This was payback for Maiden, who suffered a 53-35 defeat the last time these two teams met.
It was another big night for Khiara Culliver, who dropped a triple-double on 28 points, 17 rebounds, and ten blocks. She continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Willow Bass, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Bandys lost, one person who can't be blamed is Rachel Anderson. Despite the final result, she scored 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Vaughan, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Maiden's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-7. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.7 points per game. As for Bandys, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.
Maiden will head out on the road to face off against Bunker Hill at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bunker Hill is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak. As for Bandys, they will play host again and welcome Newton-Conover, where tip off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Newton-Conover focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Friday.
