In what's become a running theme this season, the Willow Spring Storm gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They claimed a resounding 66-32 victory over Fuquay - Varina at home. Given Willow Spring's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 28th, while Fuquay - Varina is ranked 398th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Willow Spring found their leader in underclassman Zariah Burnette, who scored 20 points along with five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Burnette has scored all season. Korin Gladden was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with three steals.
Fuquay - Varina lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Chloe Webb, who scored six points along with nine rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Aevri Harrington, who scored six points.
Willow Spring's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.4 points per game. As for Fuquay - Varina, their loss dropped their record down to 4-13.
Willow Spring will head out on the road to face off against Southeast Raleigh at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Fuquay - Varina, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against South Garner at 5:30 p.m. South Garner has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
