The White Oak Vikings will challenge the North Brunswick Scorpions at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
On Monday, White Oak needed a bit of extra time to put away Jacksonville. They won by a run and slipped past the Cardinals 7-6.
Alyssa Carkhuff was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.
In other batting news, Gracie Tompkins was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but North Brunswick ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against East Columbus, sneaking past 14-13. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Scorpions considering their two-run performance the contest before.
Jamya Hansley was a standout: she scored four runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5. Another player making a difference was Zoey Matthews, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
North Brunswick kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
White Oak's victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-2. As for North Brunswick, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
North Brunswick's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: White Oak has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9 hits per game. It's a different story for North Brunswick, though, as they've been averaging 10.5 hits. Given White Oak's sizable advantage in that area, North Brunswick will need to find a way to close that gap.
