Baseball Recap: Discovery Has No Trouble Against the Vine Christian Academy

After only one run in their last game, Discovery made sure to put some runs up on the board against The Vine Christian Academy on Thursday. The Discovery Spartans put the hurt on The Vine Christian Academy Kings with a sharp 11-5 win. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won four contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Tylor Timmons made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in February. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI.

In other batting news, Edrick Rivera was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. He has become a key player for Discovery: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-8 otherwise. Hunter Benjamin was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing Four bases. while going 2-for-3.

Discovery always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Discovery's record is now 5-8. As for The Vine Christian Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

Looking ahead, Discovery will take on Lake Region in a tournament on Tuesday. The Vine Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
