The Fountain Central Mustangs will be playing at home against the Rossville Hornets at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Fountain Central is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home.
Fountain Central suffered their closest defeat since November 21, 2023 on Thursday. They fell just short of Covington by a score of 47-44.
Will Harmon put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 29 points along with two steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Gayler, who scored seven points along with 14 rebounds.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Rossville beat the Comets 59-53 last Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Rossville.
Rossville found their leader in underclassman Brayden Thiele-hahn, who scored 18 points along with two steals. Thiele-hahn continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jordan Skiles, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
Fountain Central has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season. As for Rossville, their win bumped their record up to 8-10.
Saturday's matchup is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Fountain Central have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 42.7% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Rossville struggles in that department as they've made 39.1% of their threes this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Fountain Central didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against the Hornets in their previous matchup back in March of 2023, but they still walked away with a 44-40 win.
