WILMINGTON, N.C. -
Hoggard (Wilmington, N.C.) snapped the six-game winning streak of
New Hanover (Wilmington, N.C.), with a 35-7 victory on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a
Keevin Thompson touchdown run in the first quarter, the Vikings were up 21-7 at the half.
Hoggard expanded its lead to 21 points entering the fourth quarter. HHS's lone score in the quarter came on a Thompson touchdown run.
Hoggard's most effective player was Thompson. He ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored 15 touchdowns on the season.
New Hanover's only touchdown came on a 5-yard run by
Ramone Simpson in the first quarter.
Hoggard had given up an average of 11.2 points prior to the contest. The Wildcats came in giving up 16.0 points per game this season. New Hanover struggled against Hoggard's offense, which entered the game scoring 32.3 points per game.
The loss comes after New Hanover defeated Northern 40-0 last week.
