Baseball Game Preview: Gananda Central Blue Panthers vs. Sodus Spartans

Gananda Central is 8-2 against Sodus since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Blue Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Spartans at 4:45 p.m. Both teams are still undefeated after three games, but that won't be the case come Friday.

Gananda Central's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Lyons with a sharp 23-0 victory.

Maddox Stoughton made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over four innings pitched. Stoughton was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Brady Wadsworth was a standout: he scored two runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Henry Shutts, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Gananda Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .531. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

The home team had won the previous five meetings between Sodus and Williamson, and Sodus kept the tradition alive. The Spartans walked away with a 4-1 win over the Marauders on Wednesday.

Gananda Central's victory was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team's won by an average of 10.3 runs thus far. As for Sodus, their record is now 3-0.

Gananda Central was able to grind out a solid win over Sodus in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 3-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
