The Calvary Christian Warriors and the Berkeley Prep Buccaneers squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Calvary Christian Warriors had to settle for second. They fell to the Buccaneers 31-27. Calvary Christian's defeat signaled the end of their nine-game winning streak.
When it comes to explaining why Calvary Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jacob Drackett. Despite the final result, he threw for 304 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground.
Even if they lost, Calvary Christian's defensive line sure didn't make it easy: Berkeley Prep's QB was sacked three times before it was all said and done. Gavin Thomas was especially locked on to Berkeley Prep's QB and sacked him twice.
It was another big night for Dallas Golden, who picked up 92 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground for Berkeley Prep. Golden was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 64 yards. Cooper Hayes was another key contributor, throwing for 198 yards and two touchdowns while completing 73.7% of his passes.
Calvary Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Berkeley Prep, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2.
Calvary Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Berkeley Prep will head out on the road to face off against American Heritage at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams have allowed few points on average, (American Heritage: 13.6, Berkeley Prep: 13.8) so any points scored will be well earned.
