The Nickerson Panthers had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They escaped with a win on Tuesday against Larned by the margin of a single free throw, 54-53. That's another feather in the cap for Nickerson, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Nickerson got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Taylor Engelland out in front who scored 15 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Engelland has scored all season. Alex King was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Nickerson's victory bumped their record up to 3-10. As for Larned, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9-2 record this season.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Halstead the next time they take the court. Nickerson will head out to face the Dragons at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Indians will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
