The Tri-Village Patriots will take on the Dalton Bulldogs at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Tri-Village is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Tri-Village is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They never let Minster get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory. Those one runs were actually the fewest the Patriots have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.
Elizabeth Poling looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Tri-Village saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kash Mead, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Dalton had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.6 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Raiders.
Mei Simmons made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. Simmons was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Dalton let Sara Geibel and Hannah Wenger run wild. Geibel went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Wenger went 3-for-4 with four runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Geibel has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenna Doty, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Dalton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Columbia only posted a batting average of .059.
Tri-Village's record is now 28-0. As for Dalton, their record now sits at 23-10.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Tri-Village hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .391. However, it's not like Dalton struggles in that department as they've averaged .333. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
