Gerstell Academy's's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Manchester Valley Mavericks at 5:03 p.m. on December 27th. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Wednesday, Gerstell Academy had just enough and edged Concordia Prep out 54-51. The win was just what Gerstell Academy needed coming off of a 60-39 loss in their prior match.
Even though Manchester Valley has not done well against Liberty recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Manchester Valley pulled ahead with a 65-64 photo finish over Liberty. The score was all tied up 32-32 at the break, but Manchester Valley was the better team in the second half.
It was another big night for Brendan Luddy, who scored 30 points. Those 30 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Strohman, who scored 16 points.
Gerstell Academy's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Manchester Valley, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Gerstell Academy took their victory against Manchester Valley in their previous matchup back in January of 2017 by a conclusive 75-53. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Manchester Valley's Bo Schene, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.
