Desert Mirage has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Indio Rajahs at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Desert Mirage comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 21 points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
Desert Mirage suffered their biggest defeat since December 15, 2023 on Friday. They were beaten by Desert Hot Springs 68-21. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Desert Mirage has suffered against Desert Hot Springs since January 10, 2019.
Luis Jimenez was Desert Mirage's leading scorer, having posted eight points. Jimenez also led the team in rebounds with eight.
Meanwhile, Indio entered their tilt with Banning with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Indio claimed a resounding 85-49 victory over Banning at home. Indio has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 25 points or more this season.
Jayden Gonzalez continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 23 points. He hasn't dropped below 15points for 12 straight games. Another player making a difference was Darren Thomas, who scored 16 points.
Desert Mirage has not been sharp recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-16 record this season. As for Indio, they pushed their record up to 16-5 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home.
Desert Mirage took a serious blow against Indio when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 98-17. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Desert Mirage was down 55-9.
