The Mercer Christian Academy Cavaliers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 25 points or more this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Monday as they easily beat Victory Baptist Academy 59-31 at home. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Mercer Christian Academy also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
It was another big night for Kayley Trump, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 steals. Trump is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Karis Trump was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Mercer Christian Academy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Victory Baptist Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mercer Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Narrows at 5:30 p.m. on January 9th. Narrows will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 245th in Virginia, while Mercer Christian Academy is ranked 46th in West Virginia). Victory Baptist Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Mountain View Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on January 9th.
