This season hasn't been kind to the St. Edward Beavers, who are still winless after their 12th game. They were dealt a 61-10 defeat at the hands of Heartland Lutheran on Tuesday. St. Edward was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-5.
Leading Heartland Lutheran to victory were Brielle Saddler and Carly Niemoth. Saddler scored 11 points along with five assists and three steals, while Niemoth scored 12 points along with six rebounds and four blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Niemoth has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Francl, who scored four points along with eight steals.
St. Edward bumped their record down to 0-12 with that defeat, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Heartland Lutheran, their victory ended a eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Edward will take on St. Francis at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Heartland Lutheran won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Nebraska Christian at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th.
