Brighton extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping them down to 4-8. They fell 16-13 to the Skyline Eagles. Even though they lost, the Bengals' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.2 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
Boston Johnson put in work no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2025. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Jonathon Ellis stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he went 2-for-4 with two triples, five RBI, and one run. Those triples marked the first that he has hit this season. Hayes Raulston was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two doubles.
As for Skyline, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-9 record this season. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Like Brighton, Skyline also got a great game from a two-way player: Andrew Johnson. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits. Johnson was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Cole Muse was incredible, going 4-for-6 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Steven Pedroza, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
While Brighton had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
