The Maconaquah Braves will head out on the road to face off against the Southwood Knights at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Maconaquah focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Tuesday.
Maconaquah posted their biggest victory since December 7, 2023 on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 58-36 margin over Pioneer.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Maconaquah to victory, but perhaps none more so than Miranda Stoll, who scored 15 points along with five assists and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Bailey Carson, who scored 13 points along with seven steals.
Meanwhile, Southwood entered their tilt with Peru with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Southwood walked away with a 49-36 win over Peru on Thursday.
Hali Pershing and Gracie Lambert were among the main playmakers for Southwood as the former scored 13 points along with five rebounds and the latter scored 13 points along with two steals.
Maconaquah now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Southwood, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-11.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Maconaquah have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 25.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Southwood struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 27.1 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Maconaquah came up short against Southwood in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, falling 57-45. Thankfully for Maconaquah, Aleia Sweet (who scored 15 points along with seven steals and six rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
