Coastal Christian is 0-10 against the Hurricanes since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Coastal Christian Centurions will head out on the road to take on the Cape Fear Academy Hurricanes at 7:00 p.m. Coastal Christian is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.
Last Tuesday, everything went Coastal Christian's way against the Patriots as the Centurions made off with a 65-39 victory. Given Coastal Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 243rd, while the Patriots are ranked 517th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Aidan Davies, who scored 24 points. Holden Martin was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Meanwhile, Cape Fear Academy was fully in charge on Tuesday, breezing past the Saints 53-24 on the road. The win was just what Cape Fear Academy needed coming off of a 76-55 loss in their prior contest.
Coastal Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 15-12 record this season. As for Cape Fear Academy, they pushed their record up to 14-6 with that win, which was their third straight on the road.
Coastal Christian ended up a good deal behind the Hurricanes when the teams last played last Tuesday, losing 44-27. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Cape Fear Academy's Angelo Vega, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.
