Hillsborough Baptist will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 741st, while Excel Christian Academy is ranked 257th).
Hillsborough Baptist's 8-4 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They took a 46-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of Classical Christian School for the Arts on Monday.
Meanwhile, Excel Christian Academy waltzed into their game on Thursday with eight straight wins but they left with nine. They put the hurt on All Saints' Academy with a sharp 80-54 victory. Excel Christian Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 26 points or more this season.
Hillsborough Baptist's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-4. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.7 points per game. As for Excel Christian Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.
Hillsborough Baptist took a serious blow against Excel Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 60-29. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Hillsborough Baptist was down 50-21.
