There's no place like home for the Norton Bluejays, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Saturday. Everything went their way against Ellis on Friday as Norton made off with a 49-26 win. Given Norton's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while Ellis is ranked 108th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Norton to victory were Hallie Brooks and Jenessa Ruder. Brooks scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and two steals, while Ruder scored 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Bailey, who scored four points along with three steals.
Norton is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. As for Ellis, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Norton will face off against Colby at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ellis, they will head out on the road to take on Trego at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
