The Sandusky Blue Streaks will venture away from home to challenge the Margaretta Polar Bears at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. Sandusky is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
Sandusky is headed into the matchup having just suffered their biggest loss since March 28th on Thursday. They came up short against Perkins, falling 12-5. The Blue Streaks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Sandusky saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Makayla Popke, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. Akiyla Jones was another, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Margaretta had just enough and edged out Clyde 10-8 on Thursday.
Cassidy Lane made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and three unearned) runs off 11 hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with three RBI and two runs.
In other batting news, Margaretta got a massive performance out of Brooke Hastings, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI and two doubles. That's the most RBI Hastings has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Ellianna Young, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Margaretta kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in ten consecutive games.
Margaretta is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.9 runs over those games. As for Sandusky, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Sandusky hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.8 home runs per game. However, it's not like Margaretta struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Sandusky skirted past Margaretta 19-18 when the teams last played back in May of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Streaks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
