The Bethesda Christian Patriots and the North Central Thunderbirds will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 10th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Bethesda Christian comes in on three and North Central on six.
Bethesda Christian had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They claimed a resounding 62-22 win over Indiana Math & Science Academy North on the road. Bethesda Christian has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 32 points or more this season.
It was another big night for Kenzie Fulks, who shot 4-for-5 from deep and almost dropped a double-double on 30 points and nine steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jayla Ferguson, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, North Central beat Shakamak 33-26 on Saturday.
North Central's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jalyn Davidson, who scored 11 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Shelby Seay, who scored ten points.
Bethesda Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. As for North Central, their victory bumped their record up to 17-10.
Saturday's matchup is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Bethesda Christian have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 40.5% of their threes per game. However, it's not like North Central struggles in that department as they've made 39.1% of their threes this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Bethesda Christian couldn't quite finish off North Central in their previous matchup back in February of 2020 and fell 56-53. Thankfully for Bethesda Christian, Jocelyn Cox (who scored 23 points along with seven rebounds and three steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
