Farmington and Potosi are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Knights will be playing in front of their home fans against the Trojans at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Farmington has eight straight wins, Potosi has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Wednesday, Farmington got the win against Hillsboro by a conclusive 8-1. Considering the Knights have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Aiden Redmond spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Tatem Tinsley, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Trevor Sutherland was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Potosi came up short against West County on Wednesday and fell 6-3. That's two games in a row now that the Trojans have lost by exactly three runs.
Potosi saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ayden Ricketts, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.
Farmington's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Potosi, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Farmington has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Potosi struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Farmington took their victory against Potosi in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 9-0 score. Do the Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Trojans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
