The Eastern Ramblers had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They blew past DC International 65-42.
Leading Eastern to victory were Isyah Joyner and Rashid Faruq. Joyner dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds, while Faruq dropped a triple-double on 15 points, 10 assists, and 13 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Derrick Gatling, who scored 8 points.
DC International's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Damani Gross, who scored 9 points. Another player making a difference was Jordan Mason, who scored 10 points.
Eastern's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for DC International, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Eastern will take on Idea at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Idea focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Saturday. As for DC International, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Capital City Public Charter School at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
