This season hasn't been kind to The Williston-Elko Blue Devils, who are still winless after their ninth contest. They took a serious blow against Blackville-Hilda on Wednesday, falling 50-14. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Williston-Elko in their matchups with Blackville-Hilda: they've now lost six in a row.
Blackville-Hilda can attribute much of their success to Jaquel Holman, who rushed for 123 yards on only nine carries.
Williston-Elko's defeat was their tenth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-9. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 12-1 Barnwell and 9-1 Hunter-Kinard-Tyler (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 65% over those games). As for Blackville-Hilda, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season.
Williston-Elko will be playing at home against Denmark-Olar at 7:30 p.m. on October 27th. Blackville-Hilda does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
