Dongola had lost three straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 4-10 to make it four. They took an 11-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cobden Appleknockers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Appleknockers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-8 back in April.
Mikyla Bean was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was Bricley Lang, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
As for Cobden, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 9-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games.
On Cobden's side, Abby Pitts was a major factor while hitting and pitching.
