The Central Valley Falcons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 12th straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 82-57 walloping at the hands of University Prep. While losing is never fun, Central Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1352nd, while University Prep is ranked 381st).
Central Valley lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Hunter Sanderson, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sanderson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kanin Harris, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Nolan Gray had a dynamite game for University Prep, dropping a double-double on 45 points and 12 rebounds. It was the first time this season that Gray scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Caleb Flores, who scored 11 points.
Central Valley's defeat was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-24. As for University Prep, the victory (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 18-8.
Central Valley will head out on the road to take on Lassen at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for University Prep, they will be playing in front of their home fans against West Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. University Prep has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 946 points over their last 14 matches.
