The Westfield Mustangs waltzed into Thursday's match with six straight wins but they left with seven. They claimed a resounding 70-0 victory over Aldine on the road. Given Westfield's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 84th, while Aldine is ranked 974th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Westfield's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Taji Atkins, who rushed for 112 yards and two touchdowns. Atkins was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 50 yards. Emmanuel Yancy also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Westfield's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Aldine, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.
Westfield is on the road again on November 10th and play against Conroe at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. Conroe is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Aldine does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
