Mount Vernon's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sha'yah Goba led the charge by scoring 16 points along with seven rebounds. The matchup was Goba's third in a row with at least ten points. Xavier Shegog was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Mount Vernon's win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-7. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.4 points per game. As for Mount Pisgah Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost ten of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mount Vernon is on the road again on Thursday and play against The Weber School at 7:30 p.m. on January 11th. The Weber School will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 421st, while Mount Vernon is ranked 54th). As for Mount Pisgah Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Whitefield Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
