Softball Recap: Bishop Manogue Wins High-Profile Match Against Reed

Bishop Manogue faced Reed in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Miners put the hurt on the Raiders with a sharp 7-1 win. The Miners might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Sammi Boggs spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kiki Harris was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 2-for-4. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Lo Faust, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

Bishop Manogue hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in 16 consecutive contests.

Bishop Manogue pushed their record up to 17-8-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Reed, with the defeat, they broke their 14-game winning streak and moved their record to 21-4.

Bishop Manogue wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 12-1 victory against Damonte Ranch on the 28th. As for Reed, they have also already played their next matchup, a 15-2 win against Carson on the 28th.
