The West Laurens Raiders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They fell to East Laurens 50-44. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points West Laurens has scored all season.
Several Raiders players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jumarie Hill, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Nasire Jones, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds.
East Laurens got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kyan Snead out in front who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Snead hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. Keynon Williams was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with nine rebounds.
West Laurens' loss was their sixth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-11. As for East Laurens, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Laurens will take on Spalding at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Spalding is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games. As for East Laurens, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Bleckley County at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (Bleckley County is ranked 119th, while East Laurens is ranked 111th).
