The Stratford Spartans will head out on the road to square off against the Memorial Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Stratford took a loss when they played away from home last Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They took down Cypress Ridge 37-21. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Rams recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Stratford got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Gavin Guzman out in front who punched in one rushing score, and also threw for 63 yards and one touchdown.

Stratford didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Jaelaun Rosser, Jaxson Blundell, and Eric Michaud picked up one apiece. Michaud is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least six every time he's taken the field this season. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Memorial got themselves on the board against Jersey Village on Saturday, but Jersey Village never followed suit. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Falcons 49-0. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won five matchups by 28 points or more so far this season.
This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Kade Gulledge and Conrad Bennett. Gulledge rushed for 107 yards and three TDs on only 14 carries while Bennett rushed for 156 yards and one score on only 12 carries. Those 156 rushing yards gave Bennett a new career-high. Grant Sperandio was another key player, throwing for 144 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes.
Memorial was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 305 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Memorial's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB three times. Isaac Richardson was especially locked on to Jersey Village's QB and sacked him twice. Another thorn in the Falcons' side was Sean Franklin, who picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made four total tackles (3.0 for loss).
Stratford's record is now 4-5. As for Memorial, their record now sits at 8-1.
Stratford took their victory against Memorial in their previous meeting back in November of 2024 by a conclusive 42-21 score. In that contest, the Spartans amassed a halftime lead of 28-7, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
