Football Recap: Jersey Shore Piles Up the Points Against Williamsport

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Jersey Shore). They blew past the Williamsport Millionaires 67-40 on Friday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Bulldogs' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 124th, while the Millionaires are ranked 331st).

Leading Jersey Shore to victory were Bo Sechrist and Nolen Pauling. Sechrist gained 202 total yards and four touchdowns, while Pauling rushed for 168 yards and a pair of TDs on only 13 carries. Those 168 rushing yards gave Pauling a new career-high. Connor Winters did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 82 receiving yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Jersey Shore was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 494 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 168 rushing yards in five consecutive contests.

Despite the loss, Williamsport still got an impressive performance from Tevin Williams, who threw for 331 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 12.7 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 119 yards and one score on only 11 carries. Williams' longest rush was for an impressive 68 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Williamsport's leading receiver Trey Damschroder was Williams' top target yet again, picking up 181 receiving yards and three TDs.

Jersey Shore's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Williamsport, they suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 4-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jersey Shore will host Hollidaysburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Golden Tigers' defense has only allowed 14.3 points per game this season, so the Bulldogs' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Williamsport, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Shamokin Area at 7:00 p.m. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 963 yards in their previous games.
