Basketball Recap: Jett Gheaja's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Morgan Township over Bethany Christian

Morgan Township was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 67-49 bruising from the Bethany Christian Bruins. The Cherokees were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bruins apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Morgan Township lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jett Gheaja, who went 6 for 11 on his way to 13 points. The dominant performance also gave Gheaja a new career-high in assists (three). Cal Lemmons was another key player, putting up 11 points and five rebounds.

Jacoby Reinhardt was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 26 points and ten boards for Bethany Christian. With that strong performance, Reinhardt is now averaging an impressive 16.8 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayden Falcon, who posted seven points.

Morgan Township's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Bethany Christian, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-2.

Morgan Township wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 48-42 defeat against Kankakee Valley on the 7th. As for Bethany Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 66-54 loss against Lakeland on the 14th.
