Torrey Pines is 9-1 against La Costa Canyon since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Torrey Pines Falcons will head out on the road to square off against the La Costa Canyon Mavericks at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Tuesday, Torrey Pines didn't have too much trouble with El Camino on the road as they won 64-45. The win was just what Torrey Pines needed coming off of a 48-19 loss in their prior game.
It was another big night for Dylan Kail, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. It was the first time this season that he scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Jackson, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, La Costa Canyon didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Santa Fe Christian on Saturday, but they still walked away with a 60-56 victory. The win made it back-to-back wins for La Costa Canyon.
Torrey Pines' win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-7. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.3 points per game. As for La Costa Canyon, their victory bumped their record up to 18-6.
Torrey Pines skirted past La Costa Canyon 67-65 when the teams last played back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Torrey Pines since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
