It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Cheylin Cougars had no problem doing just that on Friday. They breezed by Greeley County at home to the tune of 80-0. The victory was just business as usual for Cheylin, who after nine games remain undefeated this season.
Cheylin had a senior duo take command as Logan McCarty rushed for 62 yards and two touchdowns and Pablo Bermudez rushed for 87 yards and three touchdowns. Bermudez really tore up the turf during one magnificent 76-yard run. Brady Ketzner also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Cheylin has yet to lose a contest at home this season, leaving them with a 9-0 record. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-9 Western Plains/Healy and 2-7 Golden Plains (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 42.4% over those games). As for Greeley County, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.
Cheylin will head out on the road to face off against Ingalls at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Ingalls is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Greeley County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
