The Monarch Knights will face off against the South Broward Bulldogs at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Monarch is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
On Monday, Monarch came up short against Pompano Beach and fell 7-4. The Knights haven't had much luck with the Golden Tornadoes recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Gabriela Pearson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Pearson wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Monarch kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. This was only their first loss (out of three games) when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Monday South Broward sidestepped Taravella for a 6-4 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.
Angelina Romero 2027 made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Onya Lee-Golightly 2025, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024. Cheyenne Bradley 2025 also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Monarch's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for South Broward, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.
Wednesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Monarch has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .453. However, it's not like South Broward struggles in that department as they've averaged .479. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Monarch's way against South Broward in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Monarch made off with a 13-2 victory. Does Monarch have another victory up their sleeve, or will South Broward turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
