The biggest upset of the week belonged to St. Bernard's, who defeated 497th ranked Ferndale, 20-16. Patrick Allen threw for 142 yards and 1 touchdown and ran for 72 yards in the win.
The Crusaders moved up to 527 from 633 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Humboldt-Del Norte - Little 4. St. Bernard's was able to move up by topping the Wildcats 20-16.
Matthew Tomlin's team's dynamic duo of Allen and Oscar Pimentel proved tough for Ferndale to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Jason Seaman helped St. Bernard's' passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 63 yards.
South Fork's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Cubs feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Joey Wittlake has thrown for 673 yards and 6 touchdowns this season, while Troy Langley has 14 catches for 315 yards. Wittlake also leads the league in rushing with 472 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place St. Bernard's takes on second place South Fork. Last week, the Crusaders bested Kim Jorgensen's team, while South Fork beat Hoopa Valley.
Fans will be thrilled by an exciting game in the secondary when the Cubs' Langley goes up against St. Bernard's' Allen.
Next week's game between South Fork and the Crusaders will feature a good passing match up as Wittlake will test his arm against Allen's defensive ability.
