The Loveland Red Wolves will challenge the Windsor Wizards at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Loveland is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.1 points per game this season.
Loveland proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 23) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Timnath 54-51. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Red Wolves have posted since February 10, 2024.
Loveland's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Zayne Desouza, who dropped a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds, and Jackson Gebhardt, who went 7-for-12 from beyond the arc to rack up 23 points. What's more, Gebhardt also posted four assists, the most he's had since back in January of 2024. Jax Poole was another key player, putting up two points and six assists.
Loveland smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Windsor had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They strolled past the Lobos with points to spare, taking the game 64-49. Given the Wizards' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while the Lobos are ranked 86th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Windsor's victory was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-5. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 28.4 points. As for Loveland, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.
Loveland ended up a good deal behind Windsor in their previous matchup back in January, losing 61-44. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Windsor's Madden Smiley, who went 8-for-11 on his way to 25 points and three steals. Now that Loveland knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
