After soaring to 48 points the game before, The North Branford Thunderbirds were a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They took a 10-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of Valley Regional/Old Lyme. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for North Branford in their matchups with Valley Regional/Old Lyme: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the loss, North Branford still got an impressive performance from Tommy Hansen, who rushed for 203 yards and a touchdown while picking up 10.2 yards per carry. Hansen really tore up the turf during one magnificent 97-yard run. AJ Sigel also helped out as he racked up 102 rushing yards.
Even if they lost, North Branford's defense still kept up the pressure with four sacks. Leading the way was Hansen and his two sacks.
North Branford's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Valley Regional/Old Lyme, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 1-6.
North Branford will take on Rockville at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Rockville presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than North Branford in Connecticut (Rockville is ranked 29th, while North Branford is ranked 88th). As for Valley Regional/Old Lyme, they will head out on the road to face off against Sports & Medical Sciences Academy/Bulkeley/Classical Magnet at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Sports & Medical Sciences Academy/Bulkeley/Classical Magnet's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Valley Regional/Old Lyme has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
