After flying high against the Breckenridge Bulldogs last Tuesday, the Hardin-Central Bulldogs came back down to earth. Hardin-Central took a 62-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers on Thursday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Hardin-Central in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now lost nine in a row.
It was another big night for Trotter Hughes, who scored 34 points along with seven rebounds for Wellington-Napoleon. That makes it three consecutive games in which Hughes has scored at least a third of Wellington-Napoleon's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Haden Terrill, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and five blocks.
Hardin-Central's loss dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Wellington-Napoleon, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a massive bump to their 10-10 record this season.
Hardin-Central will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on the Spartans at 7:30 p.m. on February 12th. As for Wellington-Napoleon, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Saints at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd. St. Paul Lutheran is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
