After losing to the City of Life Christian Academy Warriors the last time they met, the Foundation Academy Lions decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Foundation Academy took down City of Life Christian Academy 60-41 on Thursday.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Foundation Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Avery Michels, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that Michels pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Holloman, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Despite the loss, City of Life Christian Academy still got an impressive performance from Faith Wener, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds. Wener is absolutely dominating the point category: she's posted at least 15 every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Talia St hilaire, who scored 14 points along with three steals and two blocks.
Foundation Academy's victory bumped their record up to 10-7. As for City of Life Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5.
Foundation Academy will play host again and welcome Victory Christian Academy, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Victory Christian Academy is ranked 301st, while Foundation Academy is ranked 300th). City of Life Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Calvary Chapel Academy at 1:00 p.m. on January 19th.
