On Friday, Sagemont faced the Lake Worth Trojans in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Sagemont walked away with a 62-54 win over Lake Worth. For Sagemont, this counts as revenge for the 74-55 loss Lake Worth walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
Sagemont's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Patrick Liburd, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Kevin Thomas, who scored 16 points along with two steals.
Sagemont is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. As for Lake Worth, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-7.
Sagemont will be playing in front of their home fans against Gulliver Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gulliver Prep will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 94th, while Sagemont is ranked eighth). As for Lake Worth, they will head out on the road to square off against Suncoast at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
