After flying high against the Castlemont Knights last Wednesday, the Skyline Titans came back down to earth. Skyline fell 62-51 to Oakland on Friday. While losing is never fun, Skyline can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 629th, while Oakland is ranked 146th).
Jonathan Chapple was his usual excellent self, scoring 12 points along with six assists and four steals for Oakland. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Johnson, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Skyline now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Oakland, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.
Skyline won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Albany at 5:00 p.m. on January 13th. One thing working in Albany's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matchups. As for Oakland, they will face off against St. Patrick-St. Vincent at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. St. Patrick-St. Vincent knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 14 games -- so hopefully Oakland likes a good challenge.
