Southeastern is 0-4 against Adena since April of 2024 but things could change on Friday. The Panthers will square off against the Warriors at 5:00 p.m. Southeastern will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
While Southeastern's win against Westfall wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Panthers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over the Mustangs on Thursday. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.
Kylie Williams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on ten hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single walk in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Molly Lowry was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Lydia Williams, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
Southeastern was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .375 or higher in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Adena didn't have quite enough to beat Piketon on Thursday and fell 4-3.
Addy Cottrill made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Adena's loss dropped their record down to 14-6. As for Southeastern, their record is now 16-5.
Adena's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Southeastern has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.5 hits per game. It's a different story for Adena, though, as they've been averaging 9.1 hits. Given Southeastern's sizable advantage in that area, the Warriors will need to find a way to close that gap.
Southeastern couldn't quite finish off Adena in their previous matchup back in April and fell 6-4. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
