Softball Recap: Desales Extends Winning Streak to Three

DeSales entered their tilt with Liberty Christian on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Patriots 12-5. The result was nothing new for the Irish, who have now won five matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Addison Mason made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Mason was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tessa Mendoza, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Theresa Holtzinger was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

DeSales pushed their record up to 7-2-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Liberty Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. DeSales will take on Sunnyside Christian at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. DeSales will need to watch out since Sunnyside Christian has now posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season. As for Liberty Christian, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on River View at 3:00 p.m. on April 8.
