North Montgomery hasn't had much luck against Lebanon recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Chargin' Chargers will be playing at home against the Tigers at 5:30 p.m. North Montgomery is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
On Saturday, North Montgomery didn't have quite enough to beat Eminence and fell 6-5. The Chargin' Chargers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Ella McManomy was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Erica Newkirk also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last match, Lebanon made sure to put some runs up on the board against Crawfordsville on Monday. The Tigers came out on top against the Athenians by a score of 10-6.
Miley Wilhoite made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.
In other batting news, Lebanon got a big performance out of Ali Bir, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI. That's the most hits Bir has posted over her last 11 games. Morgan Stofer was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Lebanon hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 10-2 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Lebanon has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for North Montgomery, they now have a losing record of 6-7.
North Montgomery might still be hurting after the 11-1 defeat they got from Lebanon when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Chargin' Chargers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
