Softball Recap: Woden Wins Going Away Against Garrison

Woden barely beat Garrison the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Woden Eagles blew past the Garrison Bulldogs 12-1 on Monday. With that victory, the Eagles brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Carlie Lucas made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Autumn Bridges, who scored three runs while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Aubree Scarborough, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Woden was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .400 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Woden now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Garrison, they dropped their record down to 1-9 with the defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when Woden Eagles challenge Chireno Owls at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Garrison, they will square off against Broaddus at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
