The West Clermont Wolves will head out on the road to face off against the Lebanon Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Having struggled with three losses in a row, West Clermont turned things around against Walnut Hills on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Eagles. The result was nothing new for the Wolves, who have now won three contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Gavin Speranza made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because West Clermont is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 3-4 otherwise. Speranza was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI. That double was his first of the season.

Speranza wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Matthew Stathos, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI and one run. Those four hits gave Stathos a new career-high. Brady Mineer also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
West Clermont hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Walnut Hills struck out eight times.
Lebanon came out on top against West Clermont on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run second inning. The Warriors blew past the Wolves 8-1. While the Warriors didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Colton Cannon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits.
At the plate, Bryce Bohman was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Hurst, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
Lebanon's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-2. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for West Clermont, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. West Clermont has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Lebanon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
West Clermont might still be hurting after the 8-1 defeat they got from Lebanon in their previous matchup on Monday. Can the Wolves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
