Two dominant guards in Taelar Felton and Karley Robinson are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Clinton Arrows will head out on the road to take on the Madison Central Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Mississippi (Clinton is ranked 34th, while the Jaguars are ranked 33rd).
Clinton came into Tuesday's game having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They put the hurt on Murrah with a sharp 62-42 win on Tuesday.
Jatoi Johnson and Felton were among the main playmakers for Clinton as the former dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds and the latter scored 23 points along with five assists and two steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Felton has scored at least a third of Clinton's points. Another player making a difference was Eyana Mckinley, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Madison Central's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They lost to Starkville at home by a decisive 56-41 margin. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Madison Central in their matchups with the Yellowjackets: they've now lost four in a row.
Clinton's victory bumped their record up to 17-9. As for Madison Central, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 15-12.
Clinton didn't have too much breathing room in their match against the Jaguars in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 46-41 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Clinton since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
